Personal growth and professional impact

Self-development and learning have always been cornerstones of my journey, shaping who I am both personally and professionally. Throughout my life, I’ve been drawn to programmes that encourage self-discovery and growth, working through challenges and overcoming limiting beliefs. This passion has not only guided my personal life but has also been integral to the evolution of my business. As I’ve explored new ideas, published my book, Untangled: A Practical and Inspirational Guide to Change You Choose and Change You Don’t, and leveraged new ways of working to enhance our operations, the pursuit of knowledge has remained at the forefront of my journey.

With this deep-rooted commitment to learning, I’ve always had a clear desire: to share the valuable work I do with clients through my business, the Firefly Group, and make it accessible to more people. My vision has been to create something meaningful, purposeful, enjoyable, and cost-effective. Learning shouldn’t feel like a chore - it should be an enriching experience that individuals can tailor to their own needs and interests.

That’s why the idea of launching an Online Learning Library became so important to me.

I had a strong initial vision of what I wanted the library to be, but I also knew that being open to evolution and adaptation was crucial. With my Firefly Team, we ran a pilot over the summer and in the lead up to that I ran “open” dress rehearsal sessions via zoom - both of those activities helped shape mine and the team’s thinking, allowing us to refine and develop the ideas further.

This is a long-term project that we’re embarking on, with plans to release new courses and content quarterly over the next two to three years. It really has been - and will probably continue to be - daunting, thrilling, and everything in between.

Stepping into this new territory has pushed me way out of my comfort zone. Although I’ve spent nearly 30 years designing and developing learning programmes, venturing into online learning in this capacity and for a “wider” (and in turn potentially unknown) audience is a first for me. Filming myself has been another layer of challenge (you’ll know this already from my monthly newsletters and Instagram), forcing me to confront some of my own insecurities, but I’ve had to remind myself that these feelings don’t have to hold me back.

It’s okay to feel resistant or uncomfortable when trying something new and brave, as long as you stay committed to the mission. This experience has taught me the importance of embracing discomfort. With the support of an incredible team - our fantastic film producer, cameraman, and the Firefly team - I’m learning to navigate these feelings while believing in the value of what we’re creating.

As I push through my own resistance, I can feel my boundaries expanding. The more I grow, the more I see the potential for the Firefly Online Learning Library to make a significant impact. I’m excited about the collaborations on the horizon and can’t wait to see where this journey takes us.

If you’re on your own path of growth and development, remember that it’s okay to step outside your comfort zone. Whether it’s trying something new or challenging yourself in unexpected ways, each experience has the potential to stretch your limits and open doors you didn’t know existed. Let’s embrace the journey together, and who knows what amazing opportunities lie ahead?

If you’d like to experience the library firsthand, click here to book a slot - I’d love to guide you through it and share what we’ve created.
